A Working Paper on AI Transition Dynamics
This paper offers a vocabulary for understanding the AI transition, not a complete theory, but a set of concepts that make the structural dynamics legible enough to navigate, discuss, and shape.
AI is driving rapid deflation across many forms of cognitive labour. But the most important question is not whether production costs fall. It is where the released value goes.
This paper argues that the central problem of the AI transition is not automation, it is capture. Capture is not a conspiracy. It is a recurring system behaviour: when one form of scarcity weakens, actors with capital, infrastructure, or institutional power often rebuild scarcity somewhere else.
